The seaport in Świnoujście, as part of the Szczecin-Świnoujście seaport complex for bulk cargo, is one of the largest on the Polish Baltic coast. The scale of the operations requires an environmental impact assessment.
Project Overview:
Kraj: Poland
Region: West Pomeranian Voivodeship
Klient: Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority SA
Rok: 2017
Czas trwania: 2 months
Nature of Work:
The port, classified as a global port, has quays with a total length of 1,655 meters and allows for the handling of ships with a draft of up to 13.2 meters. Intensive cargo handling operations impact various environmental aspects, including noise emissions in the port’s vicinity. The service involved planning and conducting comprehensive noise measurements around the studied area. Weather conditions were also considered, and a detailed inventory of noise sources was conducted. To determine noise propagation in the environment and its potential nuisance, comprehensive calculations and modeling were performed, resulting in the creation of a noise emission map. As in many similar cases, SoundPlan software was used. The entirety of the work carried out allowed for the assessment of the nuisance level of the complex operations conducted within the port area.
