Environmental Decisions

  • Projects that will always significantly affect the environment (referred to as Group 1)
  • Projects that may potentially significantly affect the environment (referred to as Group 2)
  • For projects classified under Group 1 (always significantly impacting the environment): Determining the scope and level of detail required for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) by the authority conducting the procedure, followed by the preparation of such a report.
  • For projects classified under Group 2 (potentially significantly impacting the environment): Preparing a Project Information Sheet and, optionally (only if deemed necessary by the authority conducting the procedure), an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
  • Checking whether the environmental objectives set out in the project have been achieved
  • Conducting inspections to determine if the operation of the project complies with the accepted environmental protection standards and practices
  • Assessing whether the monitoring procedures are adequate to ensure the fulfillment of environmental requirements in the future
  • Identifying any implementation errors that could result in increased environmental impact
